"gl and hf" really an insult for americans ?
basically i know that it isn´t.
and my question isn´t completely serious but i`m wondering about the reactions a simple "gl and hf" causes ...
i`m a nice person and in my oppinion we all play the same game and hopefully we all play to have fun.
so before a fight starts in the tombs i say something like "gl and hf all" , "good luck all", "have fun all" and similar things.
now from a european team you usually get answers like "yes, you too", "hf all" , "gl all"
from korean teams you get either no response or "thx, you too", "gg" or "gl"
now from american teams you get in 90% of all cases:
"you suck"
"euro sucks"
"die !!!! "
"you`re gay"
"suck my d*ck"
"nah"
and many similar answers
why is that ?
doesn´t "gl and hf" mean "good luck and have fun" in USA too ?
or is having fun in a game considered a bad thing ?
anyone here who can enlighten me on the thoughts, brains, souls and inner demons of americans in the tombs ?

When I see "gl and hf" I think "Now there's someone I wouldn't mind partying with."
People are just assholes sometimes, though.

lol... I don't have first hand experience with this game, but I'm not surprised. After being horribly mutilated by a Korean team in GvG (my first time) I said "sugo ha se yo" which means well done. It was met with thank you (and then sugo yo, shortened version) and exclamations of surprise

Lemme tell ya why...you see, in America alot of children, juveniles really, play video games. Of the Americans that play GW, I would say at least 60% are juveniles. Of these juveniles, I would say 80% are wimpy nerdy kids. Because of this, they feel the need to 'flex' their testoserone, and an anonymous game is the only outlet where they wont get physically hurt.
Rest assured, these comments are coming from kids. Also, rest assured that it is in no way considered appropriate behavior, and were they to try crap like that in real life they would indeed be 'pwnd' or whatever those nerdy dorks are saying these days.

Just so you know, it's not all American teams. I know it seems like the majority, but there are some of us who will respond politely or even beat you to the punch with a "gl" or "hf".

Everyone is giving me a bad name.... There is no benefit from being rude...if I had kids who did that I would throw the computer out the window and run it over a few times. Rudeness gains you nothing in this life.

Not that I typically nit-pick other people's posts, but as you're knocking all of America right now...
Do you mean they're U.S. citizens? That way you can leave the rest of north and south America out of it? And use the proper "they're"?
Personally, I usually say g/l h/f when I start a PvP match and I've only once had someone get ticked off about it. The funny thing was that he was on my team in a PUG. He kept switching over to team chat and saying, "Man, who the **** says things like g/l, what a n00b, I hope we beat their team!" all the while not noticing that I was actually on his team. That actually amused the crud out of me

I'd be more inclined to throw them out the window and run them over a few times. Wasting a perfectly good computer is no option.

Personally, I don't see the point of wishing someone good luck. To me it's like, "I hope you get lucky and kill me." Now, once it's over, "gg"s all-around, because it is a game. But, my response is usually not to say anything at all. There really is no point to being rude about it, but it's the type of behavior you come to expect online.

Personal preferrence, I find abbreviating things like that extremely annoying.
"Good luck and have fun!" is not that difficult to type. Same goes for "Thanks" and "Thank you".
TY! = Suck my balls cheese monkey!
gl and hf all! = Goat raping sh*t eater!
That usually results in an interesting rest of mission.

Well, to me, I usually state it if it's a friendly game. While I'd certainly like to win, I'd rather have fun and a casual game is often more fun to me (hence, "good luck, I'm not that attached to the outcome of this battle"). The other reason I mention it is because I'd rather fight a team that's not terrible. While it can be fun to win 10 to 0 in the lava arena, I think I'd rather have a 5-4 close victory. It's the really close games that leave me feeling satisfied no matter if I've won or lost. Plus in the tough fights I usually learn the most. So the g/l is (to me) more in the spirit of, "fight well". However "f/w" isn't a well recognized series of characters unlike "g/l", hence to save my fingers a work out I often go with "g/l"

I've personally found that stating things like:
Love the EU!
Brussels rules!
I LOVE Kim Jong II!
usually yields more a negative response than gl,hf, fu, etc...
my personal favorite remains: cesm!
Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys...

I usually say gl gh, carry over from MW. They get mad? Fine. They wish me gl and gh? Fine. Either way we're both trying to kill each other. Win or lose, I do appreciate a gg at the end, but if it doesn't happen? Fine.
